By moving to a Lesser General Public License for Qt, Nokia is hoping to lower the barrier of entry and spur the adoption rate with the open source community.
Previously, the license made it that as for a developer who wish to develop proprietary applications, they need to pay the QT company license fee. But now, for the next version of QT 3.5 in March, it'll be LGPL which allows a developer develop commercial applications without paying the license fee and also without open sourcing their application.
